Salmon Classic Fishing Tournament
Takes place August 30-September 1 on East & West Grand Traverse Bays. Over $15,000 in cash will be given away in four individual tournaments. There is also a competition for largest fish.
Magical History Tour
Hop on board a comfortable coach for a 90-minute tour of Traverse City. Learn how cherries became its main crop, the lumbering era, early resorts, and more. Tickets are $14.95 for adults and $9.95 for children under 12 and seniors. Hours of the tour are: Friday 12pm & 2pm, Saturday 10am, Sunday and Monday 12pm & 2pm.
Traverse City Beach Bums
Head to Wuerfel Park and catch the last series of home games for the 2013 season. The Beach Bums play host to the Joliet Slammers. Friday and Saturday night's games begin at 7:05pm; Sunday's game starts at 5:05pm.
Birds of Paradise: Amazing Avian Evolution
View all 39 species of this rare bird at the National Geographic Traveling Exhibition at the Dennos Museum Center inside Northwestern Michigan College. Open Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm and Sundays 1pm-5pm. Admission is $10; children and museum members $5.
Building Blocks of America
A real Lego Carnival featuring life-size Lego tunnels, Lego replicas of the Statue of Liberty, Golden Gate Bridge, and hundreds more. Inside the History Center of Traverse City. Open Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm; Sunday 12pm-5pm.
Tapas Tours at Chateau Chantal
Tours are conducted daily from 12:30pm-2:30pm. Experience the winery, vineyard, and enjoy tapas small plates with your choice of Chantal wine.
NCB Sousa Concert
Catch a rousing Sousa Concert Saturday, August 31, 8pm at the Northport Community Arts Center. The patriotic music will liven you up and put a smile on your face. Tickets are $20 for adults; $5 for students.
Outdoor Movie Night at the Grand Traverse Lighthouse
On Saturday, August 31, bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy a free movie at dusk shown on the facade of the Grand Traverse Lighthouse. Concessions are available for purchase.
